HCMC – A blaze started at a chemical warehouse in Thuong Thanh Ward in Hanoi City’s Long Bien District this morning, June 30, resulting in the explosion of many chemical barrels.

Bui Van Cu, vice chairman of the Thuong Thanh government, told Dan Tri Online that the fire broke out at 8.00 a.m. at a warehouse at Duc Giang Port.

Fire trucks and firefighters were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the inferno on being informed of the incident.

Cu said that at 9.00 on the same day, the fire was not still contained, while a giant column of black smoke was created. The fire was put under control at 10.00 a.m.

As many chemical barrels caught fire, splashing chemicals inside everywhere, firefighters found it hard to put out the blaze in a short time.
