HCMC – The section of the nation’s north-south railway passing through Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces has been reopened following flooded rail tracks witnessed over the past couple of days.

Due to heavy rains hitting the two localities of the central region of Vietnam these days and inundating the railway, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) had mobilized many forces and vehicles to handle the flooding. The section of the railway resumed operations on October 14.

The operation of trains transporting goods and passengers on the north-south railway has returned to normal, VietnamPlus news site reported, citing VNR director Dang Sy Manh.

The SE4 and SE2 trains, which departed from Saigon Station on October 13, are set to arrive at Hanoi Station, instead of only stopping at Hue Station as re-scheduled before the reopening of the railway section.

Besides, the SE8 and SE4 trains, which left Saigon Station on October 14, will arrive at Hanoi Station, while the SE7 and SE3 trains departing from Hanoi Station today will arrive in HCMC.

The flooding had forced the railway authorities to cancel 25 train trips, according to VNR.
