HCMC – The number of Covid-19-positive patients has reduced to just 13 in Vietnam as 13 other cases have tested negative for the virus one or three times.

The Ministry of Health announced on June 5 that five local hospitals are treating 13 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. They are the last positive cases in the country, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.

As for the 91st patient, the country’s most severe case of Covid-19, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son said on June 4 that his respiratory functions had recovered by some 60%.

The British patient, who worked as a pilot for the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines before getting infected, has been weaned off an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine, but still relies on a ventilator.

Among the 328 confirmed coronavirus cases, as many as 302 patients have made a full recovery and have been discharged from the hospital, accounting for 92.1% of the total, according to the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

As of this morning, June 5, Vietnam has gone 50 days with no new Covid-19 cases caused via community transmission, reporting no fatalities due to the virus.
